The Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine is often given in combination with the vaccine for Varicella (chickenpox).

It is usually administered subcutaneously, but can also be given by intramuscular injection.
Side effects and contraindications
The vaccine should be postponed in patients with high fever, while minor infections such as colds do not affect vaccination. Other contraindications include severe antibody or lymphocyte/phagocyte deficiencies, severe immunodepression, pregnancy or recent immunoglobulin administration.
